The weather inflicted harsh blows in 2008. Millions of women, men and children are suffering from hunger and illness. According to UN estimates, 2.4 million people have been affected by the impact of the cyclone, 40% of whom are children. To better respond to the needs of Burma citizens and to measure up to the generosity of Canadians, the Government of Canada will contribute a dollar to the Burma Cyclone Relief Fund for every dollar donated until June 13 by individual Canadians to eligible Canadian charitable organizations, such as CECI

Floods, flash floods, cyclones… Vietnam is one of the countries most vulnerable to natural disasters caused by climate change. Although CECI assists the poorest Vietnamese people in preparing themselves against such hardships, the organization was put to the test when Xangsane (“Elephant”) hit the country on October 1, 2006.
